Anarchafeminist Horizons at the End of Gender

Praxis Across Movements, Solidarities Across Borders

Nathan Poirier | Zane McNeill

Social Science / Gender Studies

Building on what little published literature on anarchafeminism exists, this book (re)asserts the importance of imbuing feminism with anarchism, and also anarchism with feminism. Chapters coalesce around the assertion that anarchafeminism is important for rejecting all forms of hierarchy, oppression, and exploitation which include but are not limited to those of gender. The contributors argue that gender oppression cannot be eradicated without also abolishing all other forms of oppression, and that anarchist theory and anarchists in practice have overlooked or downplayed gender concerns. This runs contrary to what the contributors view as an actual anarchist stance against coercion. Ultimately, the book asserts that both anarchism and feminism must be present for a coherent social justice theory of liberation.
