Unlocking the Power of Policy

Empowering Equity and Innovation in Public Education

Christina DeJesús Kishimoto

Education / Administration / School Superintendents & Principals

Unlocking the Power of Policy: Empowering Equity and Innovation in Public Education introduces a culturally responsive policy ecosystem (CRPE) framework that helps education leaders navigate today's most complex policy challenges. Through practical tools, real-world scenarios, and case studies, readers learn how policy contradictions and conflicts emerge-and how to address them with clarity and purpose.

Built on four foundational pillars and six culturally responsive domains, the CRPE framework enables readers to assess the health of their organization's policy ecosystem, adopt the mindset of effective policy leaders, and make more informed, equitable, and innovative decisions.

Dr. Christina DeJesus Kishimoto is a bold and visionary leader whose work has profoundly shaped educational leadership and equity initiatives across the country for the past thirty years. She is the founder and CEO of Voice4Equity LLC, a national organization focused on education policy leadership and culturally responsive strategies. Dr. Kishimoto identifies as a Boricua from the South Bronx in New York City. Prior to founding Voice4Equity, Christina served as State Superintendent of Education for Hawaii and on Governor David Ige's Cabinet. She also served as district Superintendent of the Hartford Public Schools in Connecticut and for the Gilbert Public Schools in Arizona. In 2025, she was selected as a Pahara Fellow.
