This book explores the competition, constraints, and cooperation of various forces in the construction of Chinese literary field in the new century. It selects representative writers in the evolution of Chinese literary field, such as Wang Shuo, Wang Xiaobo, Mai Jia, Yan Geling, Zhang Yueran, Annie Baby, Guo Jingming, Feng Tang, and focuses on their breakthroughs in the traditional literary field. By paying attention to key issues such as marketization, media transformation, the rise of mass culture, intergenerational psychological changes of recipients, and the loss and dilemma of humanistic intellectuals, this book persuasively discusses how the judgment of literary value is transformed from a unitary construction mode to a multi-dimensional construction mode under the interaction of “inside” and “outside” literary field. At the same time, this book also provides the possibility and direction of the future construction of literary value in Chinese literature.
