Uday Shanker Dixit | D. Pamu | Poonam Kumari

Technology & Engineering / Materials Science / General

This book presents select proceedings from the Research & Industrial Conclave 2025 (RIC 2025) held on October 10-12, 2025. This volume focuses on topics related to advanced materials, sustainable technologies, microfluidics, energy storage, sensing applications and green manufacturing. The reported works address the development of innovative solutions for industrial, environmental, healthcare, and energy-related challenges. Key areas include microfluidic droplet generation, biodegradable packaging materials, nanoparticle-based colorimetric sensors for biomedical diagnostics, ion transport in solid-state battery materials, sustainable pavement construction materials, high-performance dielectric composites for energy storage, bio-based polymer composites, and nanomaterial-enabled sensing technologies. The papers in this book highlight important developments in the area of advanced materials and provide exposure regarding the development of newer materials. Overall, this volume serves as a valuable materials science and engineering resource for practicing engineers, industry professionals, academicians, managers and budding researchers.

Dr. Uday Shanker Dixit is presently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Head of Center for Indian Knowledge System at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, serving in the institute under various capacities since 1998. He received B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1987, M.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1993, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1998. He has worked in two industries— HMT, Pinjore and INDOMAG Steel Technology, New Delhi, where his main responsibility was designing various machines. He was also the Officiating Director of Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar from February 2014 to May 2015. Dr. Dixit is actively engaged in the research in various areas of design and manufacturing since last three decades. Most of his research work is focused on Modelling of Manufacturing Processes and involves finite element analysis and soft computing. He has also contributed to design optimization. He has extensively used finite element and soft computing tools for the design and manufacture of mechatronic systems. He has authored/co-authored several journal papers, book chapters and books in mechanical engineering.

Dr. D. Pamu is a Professor in the Department of Physics and the Centre for Nanotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, Assam, India. He received his Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the University of Hyderabad, and completed his B.Sc. in Physics from Silver Jubilee Government College, Kurnool. He was awarded the prestigious Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship sponsored by the UGC, which he pursued at the University of Hyderabad during 2008–2009. His research focuses on functional ceramics, high-k and low-loss dielectric materials for microwave applications, ferroelectric and piezoelectric ceramics, oxide thin films, and nanostructured materials. He has contributed to the development of indigenously processed ceramic discs and sputtering targets, and his ZST MIC substrates have been qualified for space applications by ISRO. He is a recipient of the Young Scientist Research Awards from both the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS) and the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and has previously served as a research fellow under ISRO and the National Fusion Programme.

Dr. Poonam Kumari is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati (2024 onward). She joined as an Associate Dean of Students' Affairs in 2025. She joined the IIT Guwahati in July 2013. She received her Ph.D. degree from IIT Delhi in 2012.  She did her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Simon Fraser University, Canada. She works in the area of Continuum Mechanics, Smart Material and structures and sustainable composites.  She has published in several journals and conference proceedings. She received Young Engineer Award-2017 from Indian National Academy of Engineers. She also received SERB women excellence award, 2019.  She received DUO-India professor fellowship 2020 for conducting research at U.K. She has supervised various doctoral students as well.
