This book provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific understanding of the Himalayan tectonics, geological hazards, meteorological and glaciological hazards, the interaction of multiple hazards and forest fires. It discusses the current status of early warning systems and the risks to civil infrastructure from these hazards. Organised into 18 chapters authored by experts with extensive experience in their respective fields, the book is unique as it consolidates information that has not been compiled in a single volume before. It serves as a valuable resource for readers interested in understanding the various types of natural hazards in the Himalayan region, the potential risks they pose and possible mitigation strategies. It offers important insights for individuals studying the earth, including geologists, seismologists, meteorologists and climate scientists, as well as professionals in construction and those involved in risk reduction activities in the Himalayan region. The book is intended for researchers, academicians, postgraduate students, PhD scholars, and professionals working in natural hazards, Himalayan studies, geosciences, and related interdisciplinary fields.
