This book addresses that gap by developing an integrated and operational framework for advancing urban resilience. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from sustainability science, planning, and governance, it conceptualizes resilience as a dynamic process of absorption, adaptation, and transformation. Through multi-scalar empirical research and interdisciplinary analysis, it demonstrates how urban resilience can be translated from theory into assessment, planning, and governance practice.
By linking conceptual development, resilience assessment, spatial planning, and adaptive governance, the book offers a coherent perspective on how resilience can be understood, operationalized, and strengthened under conditions of uncertainty and rapid urban change. It offers valuable insights for researchers, graduate students, planners, policymakers, and practitioners working toward more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable urban futures.
