Huo Wei is a distinguished professor of Sichuan University, a Changjiang scholar distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education, and a national teaching master of the Ten Thousand People Programme. He is currently a professor of archaeology, doctoral supervisor, academic dean of the School of History and Culture (School of Tourism, School of Archaeology and Literature and Museums) of Sichuan University, director of the Institute of Chinese Tibetan Studies of Sichuan University, a key research base of the Ministry of Education for humanities and social sciences, and one of the conveners of the seventh and eighth session of the State Council's Discipline Evaluation Group for the discipline of archaeology. He is also a member of the Steering Committee for Undergraduate Teaching of the Ministry of Education and a member of the Chinese Archaeological Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Archaeological Society.
