Wind Resistance Technology for High-Speed Railway Bridges

Transportation / Railroads / General

This book draws on research from projects like the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the chief editor’s extensive experience with the “Design Code for Wind Resistance of Railway Bridges.” It analyzes wind resistance characteristics and key technical issues of high-speed railway bridges, covering topics such as wind field characteristics, aerodynamic interference between vehicles and bridges, dynamic behavior, vortex-induced vibration limits, and wind resistance technologies. The book innovates methods for determining wind parameters in complex terrains, establishes wind speed classification standards, and defines wind resistance targets for bridge structures and train operations, particularly distinguishing design criteria for large-span railway bridges both with and without vehicles.

This book also proposes calculation models for wind loads on typical bridge components, reveals aerodynamic interference mechanisms in vehicle-bridge systems, and establishes theoretical models for wind loads. It builds a dynamic performance database for large-span railway bridges, develops empirical formulas for fundamental frequencies and damping ratios, and introduces coupled vibration analysis methods considering vortex and flutter effects. The book defines vibration amplitude limits for safe train operation, analyzes wind-sensitive components like main girders and rigid hangers, and suggests effective vibration control measures. It serves as a valuable reference for researchers, engineers, and students in high-speed railway bridge engineering.
