Now in its extensively revised third edition, this book offers a comprehensive review of the latest advancements in prostate cancer management, from screening to treatment, with a strong emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach. The editors present outstanding new and updated contributions from various expert authors.
The opening chapters cover fundamental aspects such as epidemiology, pathology, biology and genetics. The role of individual and mass screening is thoroughly evaluated, with significant attention given to diagnosis and clinical work-up using recent innovations like multiparametric MRI and choline PET-CT. The detailed examination of active surveillance is followed by discussions on various therapeutic options, including open and minimally invasive procedures, robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, different forms of radiation therapy, high-intensity focused ultrasound, cryotherapy, hormonal treatments, chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy. The book includes up-to-date results from practice-changing phase III randomized clinical trials and provides special insights into interpreting these results from both clinical and patient perspectives.
Management of Prostate Cancer will be a valuable resource for practitioners at all levels of expertise.
