Currently an Honorary Academic at the School of Dentistry, Brisbane, he has held professorial, senior academic, and leadership roles in India, Kenya, Sudan, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, including appointments as Director and Dean of major dental schools in Trinidad and Tobago, the West Indies, and the UAE. Yücel Erbilgin, BSc, MSc, PhD, Associate Professor at the Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine, Istanbul University, specialises in genetics, with expertise in cancer genetics, epigenetics, and rare diseases. Her interdisciplinary research investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying rare disorders, including craniofacial anomalies and inherited conditions affecting orofacial structures. She has authored numerous high-impact publications that advance global understanding of rare disease biology. Manogari Chetty, BSc, BChD, MChD, PhD, Professor and Head of the Department of Craniofacial Biology, Pathology and Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of the Western Cape (UWC), is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist and holds the UWC Research Chair in Oral Health. Her expertise spans clinical dentistry and molecular genetics, with a focus on rare craniofacial syndromes and non-communicable diseases of the head and neck. As founding President of the African Society for Dental and Craniofacial Genetics, she is a leading advocate for strengthening research capacity and developing dentist-scientists across Africa. Her work emphasises translational research that bridges laboratory discovery and clinical practice to address Africa’s unique oral health challenges.
Gargi Sarode, BDS, MDS, PhD, MFDS RCPS (Glasg), FCB (Italy), is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology at Dr D.Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pune, India. Her research focuses on potentially malignant oral disorders, oral cancer, and the global disease burden. She has been featured in Stanford University’s list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists and ranked among the Top 5% Scientists by SciRank Global and the AD Scientific Index. Professor Sarode has authored more than 400 international publications, including papers in high-impact journals such as those in The Lancet group. Her honours include the Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship, a Fellowship in Cancer Biology from the University of Torino, and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. She holds 20 patents, 35 copyrights, multiple design registrations, and numerous national and international awards, and serves on the editorial and reviewer boards of several leading journals.
