Over the past two decades, numerous articles have explored these interactions between medical conditions and psychotropic drugs, but the studies have yielded heterogeneous results for clinicians. This book includes medical side effects of psychotropic drugs and their use in special medical conditions, which are a matter of ongoing interest to clinicians. In this book,  current literature with high evidence value on related topics is summarized. Focusing directly on clinical application, the chapters present key points that support informed prescribing. These include medications with the lowest or highest risk in specific general medical conditions, absolute risk ratios, risk factors, and the management of medical conditions caused by these medications. The book also explores possible differences in efficacy and side effects among specific antidepressants and other drug classes. Each chapter concludes with a concise commentary on the available scientific evidence.
This title is an essential resource for psychiatrists, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who prescribe psychotropic medications.
