Technological Innovation for Circular Economy and Industrial Sustainability offers a timely and interdisciplinary exploration of how digital technologies and innovative practices are transforming industries and institutions in the transition from linear to circular economic models. Responding to global sustainability imperatives, this book demonstrates that technological innovation is not solely a technical intervention but a catalyst for systemic change encompassing environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and long-term industrial resilience.
The chapters examine the role of emerging technologies, digital platforms, and data-driven systems in enabling sustainable resource management, waste reduction, and circular business practices across diverse organizational and institutional contexts. By drawing on empirical studies and conceptual frameworks, the volume illustrates how innovation can enhance recycling behaviors, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability governance, particularly within knowledge-intensive environments such as universities and public institutions.
Importantly, the book extends the discussion of circular economy beyond environmental outcomes by integrating human and organizational dimensions of sustainability. Several contributions highlight the psychosocial and leadership challenges associated with rapid digitalization, emphasizing that industrial sustainability must balance productivity gains with employee well-being, ethical leadership, and supportive organizational cultures. This mocking of environmental and social perspectives provides a more holistic understanding of sustainability in digitally driven systems.
With a strong focus on emerging and developing economies, the book provides context-sensitive insights into how resource constraints, institutional dynamics, and technological change interact to shape sustainability outcomes. Through case-based and empirical analyses, it provides actionable guidance for policymakers, industry leaders, educators, and researchers seeking to design inclusive and innovation-led sustainability strategies.
Overall, this volume positions technological innovation as a critical enabler of the circular economy and industrial sustainability when aligned with responsible governance, human-centered design, and evidence-based policy, making it an essential resource for advancing sustainable futures.
