This contributed volume offers a variety of chapters that examine the latest research in plant ecology, physiology, and agriculture in order to provide an understanding of the impacts of rise in temperature on plant species, populations, and communities. The book explores the history of temperature-plant relationship and plants’ microbial, and physiological responses to changes in temperature. The book also includes chapters discussing different models developed to predict the impacts of the rising temperature on plants.

Adaptation strategies, including genomic editing to make plants more heat-resilient, are also discussed, in addition to an exploration of policies to protect the plants from rising temperatures. The book concludes by discussing the implications of rising temperature impacts on plant diversity, reproduction, adaptation, conservation, and management. It highlights the need for a consolidated approach to combine physiological, ecological, biotechnological, and evolutionary perspectives to mitigate the effects of rising temperature on plant kingdom. This book is a crucial resource for students, researchers, plant ecologists, environmental scientists, and conservation biologists who want to understand the complex interactions between temperature and plants. It provides a foundation for developing effective strategies to protect plant diversity and ecosystem resilience in this rapidly warming world.

Dr. Amit Awasthi obtained his Ph.D. in 2011 and has over 15 years of experience in research, teaching, and academic administration. He is currently an Senior Associate Professor (Physics) at the School of Advanced Sciences, UPES, Dehradun. His research focuses on atmospheric and environmental sciences, including climate change, aerosols, and air quality. He has published ~100 papers (h-index 26, ~2500 citations) and authored/edited 11 books with major publishers. He has received an International Postdoctoral Fellowship from Taiwan and serves as an editor for multiple journals. He is actively involved in research supervision, conferences, and academic administration.

Dr. Avneesh Kumar is an Associate Professor of Botany at SRM University Sikkim, specializing in plant stress biology and climate-driven impacts on plant systems. His research focuses on stress-responsive genes, transcription factor networks, and adaptive mechanisms enabling plant tolerance to heat, salinity, and heavy metals. He integrates molecular biology, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics approaches to develop sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. His work also extends to pollution monitoring, nanotechnology in agriculture, and sustainable ecosystem management.

Dr. Vajinder Kumar is a Research Scientist at the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, UK. His current work focuses on paleoclimatic studies using isotopic analysis of plant cellulose. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Akal University, Punjab, and completed his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry at NIPER, India. He was awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship for research on glycoproteins and toxin inhibition. His research interests include glycosylation mechanisms, glycoprotein therapeutics, protein engineering, virus-like particles, and environmental chemistry, including studies on heavy metal mobilization in groundwater.

Dr. Tanupriya Choudhury completed his B.Tech in Computer Science (WBUT, Kolkata), M.Tech from Dr. M.G.R University, Chennai, and Ph.D. from Jagannath University, Jaipur (2016). With over 15 years of experience, he is currently a Professor at UPES, Dehradun, and Visiting Professor at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. His expertise includes Human Computing, Soft Computing, Cloud Computing, and Data Mining. He has published 100+ research papers, filed 25 patents, and secured 16 software copyrights.
