Magno Antônio Ferreira MD graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Brazil, in 1986 and completed his specialization in Ophthalmology in 1990. He earned both a Master’s degree (1996) and a PhD (2015) in Ophthalmology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil, and further specialized in Retina and Vitreous through training at UNIFESP and the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California. In 2018, he completed an MBA at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV).

Dr. Ferreira is currently a Full Professor at UFU and serves as Head of the Ophthalmology Service and the Retina and Vitreous Unit. His clinical and academic work focuses on retinal diseases, vitreoretinal surgery, and ophthalmic innovation. He has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters and serves as editor-in-chief of the BRAVS Retina e-book, which formed the basis for the book Diseases of the Retina and Vitreous: Clinical & Surgical Practice and Innovations.

An active leader in the ophthalmology community, he has lectured at major national and international congresses, helped organize 23 ophthalmology events, and presided over two major congresses. He also served as President of the Brazilian Retina and Vitreous Society (BRAVS) from 2018 to 2020.
