The flourishing of nationalist discourses and the corresponding brandishing of “traditional
values” in Central and Eastern Europe are in part, reaction to the newly domineering Russia, but
they are just as well normatively aligned with the anti-gender principles that Russia also uses to
advance its domestic and transnational interests.
