This open access book is a detailed introduction to the witness seminar research method, for researchers working in both academic and non-academic settings.

Written by a team spanning academia and activism, it critically examines the origins and application of witness seminars, before setting out a practical guide on how to plan, conduct and document them. It also reflects on the value of this method outside of its traditional homes in academia and the Global North, assessing its value for initiatives like policy thinktanks and advocacy organisations.

Breaking the process down into the before, during and after of running a witness seminar, the book's international team of authors draw on their experience of using witness seminars in innovative ways. They tackle issues often omitted from discussion of this method, including researcher positionality and power dynamics, and illustrate critical questions about using the method based on real world examples.
