This book applies the philosophical ideas of historical materialism and dialectical materialism to summarize and analyze the creation and development of the world’s animation art forms, technology forms and economic forms on the basis of a comprehensive study of the political, cultural, social and economic environments of a particular era, to outline the historical development of animation in China, to assess representative animation schools, animation studios and artists. It also analyses in detail the causes, characteristics and development of animation in terms of ideology, subject matter, artistic style, technology, management and industry, as well as the relationship between them.

LI Tie is a professor at the School of Art, Tiangong University. His main research interests include intelligent creative technology and applications and digital activation of traditional Chinese art. Academic jobs include members of the Ministry of Education’s College Animation and Digital Media Teaching Steering Committee, vice president of the Tianjin Animation Society, higher education teaching experts of the Ministry of Education, national graduate education evaluation and monitoring experts, members and judges of the China Digital Art Design Expert Committee, and national colleges and universities. Standing member of the Digital Creativity Professional Committee of the School Computer Basic Education Research Association. A number of his research projects have been supported by provincial and ministerial funds, and a representative monographs had been published in the field of intelligent creativity.
