This book presents selected peer-reviewed papers from the 10th International Congress on Computational Mechanics and Simulations (ICCMS 2025), held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, India, from 17–19 December 2025. Organized under the aegis of the Indian Association for Computational Mechanics (IndACM), the congress brought together leading researchers, scientists, engineers, and industry professionals working across diverse areas of computational mechanics. The conference provided a vibrant platform for the exchange of recent advances in mathematical modelling, numerical methods, simulations, and their applications to complex real-world engineering problems. ICCMS 2025 attracted 449 participants representing 147 academic institutions, research laboratories, and industrial organizations from India and abroad. The technical program featured 374 oral presentations, 41 invited lectures, and 27 thematic sessions, reflecting the breadth and interdisciplinary nature of contemporary computational mechanics. The contributions compiled in this volume showcase the high-quality research presented at the congress and provide valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and graduate students in the field.
Dr. Devesh Punera is working as Associate Professor in School of Infrastructure at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, India. Dr. Punera has earlier obtained his B.Tech. degree in civil engineering from G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. He further obtained masters and Ph.D. from IIT Bombay in the domain of structural engineering. Dr. Punera works in the broad area of structural and computational mechanics of advanced composites. Dr. Devesh Punera specializes in advanced composite structural mechanics, contributing to shell structure theory, nanocomposites, and curvilinear fiber composites. His work addresses manufacturing defects in advanced composites and accurate inclusion of defects in structural response. Dr. Punera has published over 20 well-referred works in reputed international journals. Dr. Punera has delivered special lectures to many industries on use of finite element methods. Dr. Punera has also developed a 12-week online NPTEL Swayam course titled ‘Advanced Structural Analysis’.
Prof. S.K. Panda is Professor at the School of Infrastructure, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar. Prior to this, he served at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in various academic roles. He holds a B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering from VSSUT Burla, Odisha, an M.Tech. in Structural Engineering from IIT Madras, and a Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur. His doctoral research focused on the ‘Static and Dynamic Instability Analysis of Plates and Cylindrical Panels Using Third-Order Theory’. Prof. Panda's research interests encompass static and dynamic instability analysis of structural elements such as columns, plates, and shells, with a focus on geometric nonlinearity, shear deformation theories, and thickness stretching. Additionally, he has significant expertise in concrete technology and energy-efficient building design. He has guided nine Ph.D. scholars in these domains and published over 60 high-impact peer-reviewed journal papers. He has undertaken several research projects aligned with his areas of expertise.
Dr. Mohammad Masiur Rahaman is Associate Professor in the School of Infrastructure, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. He obtained his bachelor's in civil engineering in 2010 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He worked as Operation Officer in Indian Oil Corporation Limited from August 2010 to June 2011. He received his Master of Engineering (ME) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2013 and 2018 from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Post his Ph.D., he was Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Engineering, Brown University, from June 2018 to September 2019. He was awarded a medal for the best doctoral thesis from the Institute Mathematics Initiative, IISc. His areas of interest are fracture mechanics, topology optimization, thermodynamically consistent viscoplastic damage models, peridynamics, finite element and mesh‐free techniques, modeling of bio‐inspired composites, geometric mechanics and biomechanics. Presently, he has twenty‐four high‐quality international journal publications.
