Dr. Afroz Alam is an Professor in the Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, India. Prior to this, he served as a Junior and Senior Research Fellow under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi, and later as an Assistant Professor at the same institution.

He holds an M.Sc. in Plant Science and a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. His academic journey has been rooted in plant biology, with a strong focus on cryptogamic botany.

Dr. Alam’s research interests include bryology, plant taxonomy, conservation biology, and the application of plant science in sustainable development. He has been recognized for his contributions by national bodies and has qualified the ARSB-ICAR-NET in Agricultural Biotechnology.

He has authored and edited several academic books and has received appreciation for his work in plant science education and research. His publication record includes numerous research papers and book chapters in the field of botany and allied sciences.

Dr. Alam continues to contribute actively to teaching, mentoring, and advancing research in cryptogamic botany and related disciplines.
