He received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Institute of Technical Aspects of Multimodal Systems, Department of Informatics, University of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany, in 2013. Since 2014, he has been with the Intelligent Systems Laboratory, Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, NTNU i Ålesund, Norway. He became an associate professor of ship intelligence, and further promoted to a full professor in 2018 and 2021, respectively. Dr. Li has published more than 180 papers in the areas of his research interests which include digitalization, simulation and modelling, artificial intelligence and optimization algorithms in marine operation, and locomotion control of bioinspired robots. \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWeiwei Tian received the Ph.D degree in Engineering in 2025 from the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Ålesund, Norway. Dr. Tian is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Tianjin University of Technology, Tianjin, China. Her research interests include data sensitivity analysis and artificial intelligence in maritime operations.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eMingda Zhu received the Ph.D. degree in Engineering in 2024 and M.Sc. degree in ship design in 2021 from the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Ålesund, Norway. Dr. Zhu is currently a research fellow at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, Ningbo, China. His research interests include AIS data, intelligent onboard support, and machine learning.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eChunlin Wang received the Ph.D. degree in Engineering in 2023 from the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Ålesund, Norway. Dr. Wang is currently an algorithm engineer at China Mobile Information Technology Co., Ltd. He has published seven articles in his research areas, including the modeling and simulation of ship motion, civil engineering, sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty analysis.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eHouxiang Zhang received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical and electronic engineering from Beihang University in 2003 and the Habilitation in informatics from the University of Hamburg, Germany in 2011. He is currently a full professor with the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. From 2011 to 2016, he also hold a Norwegian National GIFT Professorship on product and system design funded by the Norwegian Maritime Centre of Expertise. He has engaged into two main research areas, including control, optimization and AI application especially on autonomous vehicle; and marine automation, digitalization and ship intelligence. He has applied for and coordinated more than 30 projects supported by Norwegian Research Council (NFR), German Research Council (DFG), EU, and industry.
