The Human-Smart Warehouse
Bridging People, Technology, and Sustainability in Modern Fulfillment
Scott McDonald | Minh Ngo
Business & Economics / Production & Operations Management
This book is the first complete guide to running a modern warehouse that works for people, technology, and the planet at the same time. It shows warehouse managers, operations executives, and supply chain leaders how to manage the move to smart, sustainable fulfillment without losing sight of the workers who make it succeed.
The chapters progress from how warehouse jobs have changed, through workforce development, automation, and risk management, to measurement, sustainability, and the expectations of a new generation entering the field. The book grounds this journey in the principles of Industry 5.0 and Warehousing 5.0, introduces a practical Three-Dimensional Integration Model, and follows McDylan Fulfillment Solutions, a fictional company, through its full transformation.
Readers gain real frameworks they can apply, honest case studies of both successes and failures, and clear guidance on the human side of warehouse automation that most books overlook, including worker well-being, security, and lasting environmental responsibility.
