Zhang Shuhua is Director of the Institute of Political Science at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dean of the School of Government Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, President of the Chinese Political Science Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Political Science Research. He served as a member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
His long-term research focuses on Chinese politics, comparative world politics, democratization and democratic concepts, state governance, Soviet-Russian affairs, and Chinese/foreign systems of awards and honors. He has presided over and completed more than 20 major research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund. He has published over 600 academic papers and over 30 books.
He has received multiple Outstanding Research Achievement Awards and Outstanding Policy Advisory Awards from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
