As for structural reliability, metamodels are mainly used to construct low-cost approximations of performance functions to support subsequent analysis and design. The prerequisite for this method is that the original performance function is a computationally expensive black-box model. Therefore, by establishing high-precision and low-cost approximations, the computational cost can be effectively reduced. This book mainly introduces the basic principles of metamodel-based methods, and demonstrates the flexibility and efficiency of metamodel-based methods in reliability engineering, as well as their potential in practical applications. This book is aimed at graduate students, scholars, and reliability engineers interested in structural\/mechanism reliability analysis and design optimization. Dr. Ling conducted postdoctoral research at City University of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2024. Since Aug 2024, Dr. Ling has been in School of Mechatronic Engineering and Automation, Shanghai University as an Associate Professor. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDr. Ling focuses on research in reliability analysis and design optimization, sensitivity analysis, and reliability operation and maintenance optimization of structures, mechanisms, and systems. Her recent research interests include: reliability modeling and preventive maintenance of humanoid robots under dependent and competing degradation and shock failures, reliability analysis and design optimization of key components of robots, etc. So far, Dr. Ling has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conferences, serving as a reviewer for multiple international reliability journals.
