This book offers a comprehensive overview of English language teaching and learning across Turkic-speaking countries and regions, including Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Northern Cyprus. It brings together leading scholars and practitioners to explore how English is positioned within multilingual education systems and how language policy, curriculum design, and teacher education are negotiated in diverse sociocultural contexts.
The chapters provide evidence-based analyses of policy frameworks, pedagogical practices, and teacher development initiatives, highlighting both shared challenges and country-specific innovations. By situating English language education within broader debates on globalization, identity, and linguistic equity, this book bridges global TESOL discourses with regionally grounded perspectives.
This book is an essential resource for researchers, policymakers, and educators interested in applied linguistics, language policy and planning, comparative and international education, and sociolinguistics. It offers critical insights into how English functions as a tool for internationalization and modernization while intersecting with local priorities and cultural values.
