It draws policy insights into developing a carbon market regime for those countries across ASEAN and Asia that intend to introduce a carbon market and also discusses ways of linking a country carbon market to a regional and global market. Apart from carbon market developments at national level, it elicits perspectives on implementing a carbon market for industries such as the textile, aviation and renewable energy industry and discusses challenges and opportunities of implementing a regional carbon market. This book offers a critical and comprehensive analysis of carbon market developments at national level in Asia and specific perspectives about carbon trading at industry level in ASEAN. By providing empirical findings of carbon markets in operation and policy insights, this book presents practical directions towards the implementation of carbon markets across ASEAN and Asia.

Han Phoumin is a Senior Energy Economist at Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), where he leads analytical and policy work on energy security, regional energy cooperation, and sustainable energy transitions in ASEAN and East Asia.
