This book presents peer-reviewed articles from the 5th International Conference on Sustainable Development in Civil, Urban and Transportation Engineering (CUTE 2026), held from May 27 to 29 at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It highlights recent innovations, trends, challenges and solutions adopted in the field of civil, architecture, urban and transportation engineering in terms of sustainable development. The main topics covered but not limited to are:
Sustainability in civil engineering, recycling and circular economy in civil engineering, computer methods and artificial intelligence for civil engineering, BIM tools for sustainable buildings and infrastructure, sustainable trends in architecture and urban planning, sustainability in retrofitted buildings—methods, opportunities and problems, challenges in renovation of old and historic buildings, modern testing methods for sustainable structures, sustainable construction sites: workers’ safety and health, green cities, green neighborhoods, green universities, eco-friendly, green and alternative materials, introduction of sustainable development goals in civil engineer education programs, trenchless installation and rehabilitation of underground pipelines, CIPP technologies, large scale tunneling in soil and rock conditions, composite structures and innovative composite materials, environmental geotechnology, sustainable ground improvement and foundation engineering.
Dr. Minh Tung Tran received his Ph.D. from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He is an Associate Professor of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Vietnam, and since 2017, he has been the dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, TDTU. His research interests include construction and building materials and structural engineering
Dr. Adrian Różański is an associate professor at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST), Poland. He obtained his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University Lille I (France) and a D.Sc. in civil engineering from WUST. He was a bursar of a three-year scholarship of the French Ministry of Research and Technology (2006–2009). He is a member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He works as a managing editor of the international journal Studia Geotechnica et Mechanica and a deputy editor of Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. His areas of interest are: mechanics of composites, soil and rock mechanics, energy geotechnics, multi-scale modeling of physical processes.
Dr. Quoc-Bao Bui received his Ph.D. from Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat (ENTPE) Lyon, France. From 2011 to 2016, he was Associate Professor at University Savoie Mont-Blanc, France. Since 2016, he has joined Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU, Vietnam). He is currently Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, TDTU. His research interests include soil-based materials, nano materials, geopolymer and sustainable structures.
Dr. Łukasz Sadowski is the head of the Department of Materials Engineering and Construction Processes. He is the fellow of Foundation for Polish Science and Ministry of Science and Higher Education. He is the senior member of RILEM and young member of Polish Academy of Sciences. He is passionate about searching for relationships between scientific paradigms and practical rules in construction, especially in materials engineering, non-destructive testing, surface engineering, construction processes, and artificial intelligence.
