This book provides research progress and cognition of lacustrine fine-grained sediment in China. Experimental analysis techniques of fine-grained sediment are systematically reviewed. Characteristics and genetic mechanism of typical lacustrine fine-grained sedimentary rock are introduced, including Ordos, Songliao, and Junngar basins. The organic-enrichment mechanism and main controlling factors of black shale are also discussed. This book not only can promote the innovative development of lacustrine fine-grained sedimentology, but also has guiding significance for the leapfrog development of unconventional petroleum industry in China. Prof. Xuanjun Yuan is a senior research scientist at the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development (RIPED)，PetroChina. His main research interests include lacustrine sedimentology and lithostratigraphic reservoir. Prof. Yuan is also a guest professor at China University of Petroleum(CUP) and Southwest Petroleum University(SPU), China. He obtained his PhD degree in petroleum geology at Southwest Petroleum University, China. He has published more than 100 papers in many peer-reviewed journals as the main author or co-author, covering sedimentology and petroleum geology field. He has also authored a number of books and book chapters. He has won 7 National or Provincial Science and Technology Award.

Dr. Zhijie Zhang is a senior research scientist at Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development (RIPED)，PetroChina. She is currently responsible for fundamental research on sedimentology in RIPED. Her main research interests include fine-grained sediment, souce-to-sink system and petroleum reservoir. She has published more than 40 papers in many peer-reviewed journals as the main author or co-author, covering sedimentology and petroleum geology field. She has also authored a number of books and book chapters..

Dr. Senhu Lin is a senior research scientist at Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED), PetroChina. He is currently responsible for technical research and field test of the in-situ conversion shale oil in CNPC. He has published 65 peer-reviewed papers as the main author or co-author with more than 3200 citations, covering sedimentology, petroleum geology and geochemistry field.

Dr. Zhen Qiu is a senior researcher at Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED), PetroChina. He graduated from Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a Ph.D. in Sedimentology in 2012. He currently focuses on Unconventional Petroleum Sedimentology as well as the evaluation and exploration of unconventional petroleum resources.

Dr. Lan Wang is a senior engineer at Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration& Development (RIPED), PetroChina. Her main research interests include sedimentology and Unconventional oil and gas geology. She has published 20 papers in international and domestic journal as the main author or co-author.

Dr. Shuxin Pan is a senior researcher at Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED), PetroChina. His main research interests include sedimentology and petroleum exploration. He has published more than 50 papers in many peer-reviewed journals as the main author or co-author, covering sedimentology and petroleum geology field.
