Her research focuses mainly on prehistoric archaeology, including Paleolithic archaeology, archaeological traceology and Mediterranean archaeology. She currently directs a prominent and well-established laboratory dedicated to use-wear and residue analysis on lithic artifacts. Her team has been participating in more than 30 projects at Paleolithic and Neolithic archaeological sites in China, Israel and Cyprus. Dr. Chen has published over 40 academic papers, three monographs and one textbook on prehistoric archaeology.
