In 2007, he was appointed as head of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management Department at the RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau, Germany. His research focuses on various aspects of flood risk management. Alexandra Schülle\u003c\/strong\u003er is an endowed professor at the University of Applied Sciences Koblenz, funded by the Federal Institute of Hydrology, Germany, and a guest investigator at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, USA. She previously worked in public water management administration, beginning in 2012, and completed her doctorate on operational flood protection in 2022. During the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley in 2021, she served on the crisis management team and was later seconded to the state-level disaster management agency.
