A significant part of the book looks         at\nthe management of uncertainty in a number of the\nparadigmatic domainsof intelligent systems such as expert\nsystems, decision making, databases,  image processing, and\nreasoning networks.\nThe papers are extended       versions of presentations at the\nthird international conference on          information processing and\nmanagement of uncertainty in knowledge-based     systems.
