Medical / Pharmacology
Intended as an introduction for scientists and professionals working in drug discovery and deveopment, the first part of the book reviews recent therapy developments in diabetes and obesity treatment.
The second part survey important drug classes, including both peptide drugs and small molecule drugs such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, GIP antagonists and poly-agonists. The last part of the book is devoted to selected case studies which provide insights into the discovery of recently approved drugs.
Lars Linderoth received a PhD in chemistry in 2008 from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) working on enzyme triggered drug delivery with Professor Thomas Andresen, Professor Günther Peters and Professor Robert Madsen. In 2008 he joined Novo Nordisk, first as a 2-year post doc and later as a research scientist. Lars has been at Novo Nordisk since then, is now Director at Novo Nordisk and has managed various department within the area of research chemistry in Denmark. He has authored several publications and has been named as inventor on several patents within the field of drug discovery.
Søren Østergaard received a PhD in chemistry in 1996 from The University of Copenhagen working on the design of peptide and peptidomimetic ligands for protein targets for the study of protein-protein interactions. After an assistant professorship he joined Novo Nordisk in 1997. Søren is currently a Principal Scientist with extensive experience in the field of peptide drug discovery, having authored more than 45 publications and is named as inventor on more than 20 patents.
