The ISRR is the longest running series\nof robotics research meetings and dates back to the very earliest days of\nrobotics as a research discipline. This 16th ISRR meeting was held in the 30\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e\nanniversary year of the very first meeting which took place in Bretton Woods\n(New Hampshire, USA) in August 1983., and represents thirty years at the\nforefront of ideas in robotics research. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAs for the previous symposia, ISRR 2013\nfollowed up on the successful concept of a mixture of invited contributions and\nopen submissions. 16 of the contributions were invited contributions from\noutstanding researchers selected by the IFRR officers and the program\ncommittee, and the other contributions were chosen among the open submissions\nafter peer review.
