He holds a master’s and a doctoral degree in the History of Contemporary Philosophy and, for the past ten years, has been dedicated to the work of the German philosopher Hans Jonas, particularly at the intersection of ethics, environmental education, animal rights, plant philosophy, and the philosophy of technology. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Exeter (United Kingdom, 2016) and at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 2022). He is a member of the Hans Jonas Research Group (CNPq), coordinator of the GT Hans Jonas, and a member of the ANPOF (National Association of Graduate Studies in Brazil) Working Groups on the Philosophy of Technology and on Nietzsche. He is the founding director of the Hans Jonas Chair at PUCPR. Author of over one hundred articles and several books on environmental philosophy, including “Fragile Balance: Climate Justice and Environmental Responsibility” (2025).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThiago Vasconcelos is PhD in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) in cotutelle with the University of Coimbra. He is public servant in the Official Teaching Staff of the State of Paraná and lecturer in Political Philosophy, History of Contemporary Philosophy, and Philosophical Anthropology at Vicentina College (FAVI). His research focuses on themes in contemporary philosophy, with an emphasis on the relationship between ontology and ethics and his research interests also include the challenges of nihilism, phenomenology of life, the ontological status of animality, animal ethics, the Anthropocene and environmental catastrophe, and Indigenous thought.
