Leyla Silman-Karanfil is a senior instructor of English in the Modern Languages Program at Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (North Cyprus). Previously, she served as the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at the same university. She has also been a group coordinator and tester. Her research interests include socio-political and the English proficiency aspects of English medium instruction; pedagogical translanguaging and its impact on teacher identity development; and language teacher education, all within the local sociolinguistic and educational context. Her scholarship appeared in prestigious journals such as Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, World Englishes, and ELT Journal.

Ali Fuad Selvi is an Associate Professor of TESOL and Applied Linguistics in the MATESOL Program in the English Department at the University of Alabama (United States). Previously, he worked in the Teaching English as a Foreign Language Program at METU Northern Cyprus Campus (Northern Cyprus). His research interests include Global Englishes; sociopolitical aspects of English-medium instruction; issues related to (in)equity, professionalism, marginalization, and discrimination in TESOL; the platformized ELT ecosystem; and critical applied linguistics and language teacher education. His works appeared in various international journals, including Applied Linguistics, TESOL Quarterly, World Englishes, System, Journal of Language, Identity and Education, Applied Linguistics Review, Journal of Language and Politics, and English Today, among others.
