This book details the latest advancements in the science and practice of chest imaging. The book is designed to reflect the state of chest imaging and the structure of the field from the angles of academic research and clinical practice. This approach is founded in the notion that the practice of scientific medicine is best approached by combining clinical patient care and academic scientific research with teaching medicine by the same individuals, illustrating how scientific discovery can be translated into healing the sick and saving lives. The book is organized into six parts based on the major topics in the field: chest tumors, interstitial lung disease, chest vasculature, chest trauma, new techniques, and quality and safety. Through this structure, expert authors, primarily from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, detail the latest advancements and provide an essential overview of the field. This is an ideal guide for radiologists and trainees.
