This textbook is a timely and comprehensive resource focusing on the rapidly evolving field of paediatric diabetes, with its continuous advances in diabetes technologies and research reshaping clinical practice. This textbook places particular emphasis on diabetes technologies and transition care—areas that are increasingly central to optimal patient management yet remain underrepresented in traditional resources. It also reflects emerging perspectives on the paradigm of type 1 diabetes and future screening approaches. Core topics range from the fundamentals of paediatric diabetes management to advanced technological applications, with dedicated chapters on interpreting continuous glucose monitoring downloads, practical implementation of hybrid closed-loop systems, and strategies for transitioning paediatric patients to adult care.
The book provides practical, clinically relevant guidance on the use of contemporary technologies, including continuous glucose monitoring and hybrid closed-loop systems. Recognising that many clinicians require support in interpreting device data and integrating it effectively into care, the text offers detailed explanations and real-world applications to enhance confidence and competence in clinical decision-making.
By combining comprehensive coverage with a strong focus on emerging technologies and transition pathways, this volume represents an essential addition to the paediatric diabetes literature. Enhanced with the interactive Flashcards App for self-assessment, it serves both as a foundational text for students and as an up-to-date reference for experienced healthcare professionals.
