The Dual Engine of Green Aerospace
Driving Sustainability Through Circular Design and Performance-Driven Maintenance
Seyed Hadi Alavi | Alexandre Labelle | Samira Keivanpour
Technology & Engineering / Aeronautics & Astronautics
The book provides a framework for integrating circular economy principles into aerospace and introduces a new way to assess the sustainability of aircraft maintenance. It also to details practical solutions for more sustainable practices in the aerospace industry, driven by the need for transparent sustainability reporting.
Samira Keivanpour is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, where she directs the PolyCircle X.0 Laboratory. She is also an affiliated researcher with CIRODD, GERAD, and CIRRELT. Her research explores the future of sustainable aviation and green logistics, specializing in circular design, circular manufacturing, and decision intelligence to optimize complex product lifecycles.
Seyed Hadi Alavi is a researcher and engineering professional specialized in sustainable aircraft maintenance and operations research. He completed his Master’s degree at Polytechnique Montréal. His work introduces novel assessment methods for Green Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), aiming to integrate environmental sustainability into traditional aviation maintenance frameworks.
Alexandre Labelle is a Researcher at Polytechnique Montréal specializing in Industrial Engineering and Circular Economy. He holds a PhD from Polytechnique Montréal, where he developed advanced agent-based simulation tools to predict and enhance the efficiency of reverse logistics networks. A member of the GERAD research group, his work on consumer recycling behavior and supply chain optimization has been featured in international sustainability journals.
