Development Financing in Africa

Evidence and New Approaches

George Nana Agyekum Donkor | Joshua Y. Abor

Business & Economics / Development / Economic Development

This book addresses the current state of development finance in Africa. It presents a thorough and critical analysis of development financing, and makes the case for creative and diverse financing approaches to meet Africa’s macroeconomic issues. Chapters consider the socioeconomic challenges faced by the African continent in this contemporary moment. The book discusses how mitigating the impacts of the pandemic, eliminating poverty, reducing inequality, and combating climate change requires enormous sustainable financial resources, and illustrates how development finance emerged as an instrumental model in achieving these objectives. This book contributes to the literature by providing evidence on emerging concerns in development financing in Africa, including theoretical underpinnings, empirical assessments, and practical policy issues. This book provides an updated reference document for policymakers, researchers, and students of development finance.
