John Sandars MBChB (Hons), MSc,MD, MRCP(UK), MRCGP,FAcadMEd,Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Palliative Medicine, Cert Ed, FHEA developed his academic career in medical education as Associate Professor in the Leeds Institute of Medical Education, University of Leeds, and previously Professor in Medical Education at the University of Sheffield before moving to Edge Hill University in 2016 as Professor of Medical Education. He is an associate editor for Medical Teacher and has edited two books.
Dr. Shabih H. Zaidi is a distinguished ENT surgeon, medical educator, and ethicist based in London, with a career spanning nearly five decades. Since beginning his academic journey in the 1970s, Dr. Zaidi has ascended through every level of institutional leadership—serving as Professor, Chair, Dean, and Vice-Chancellor. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Al-Sadiq International Virtual University. A prolific scholar, Dr. Zaidi has contributed extensively to the global medical community with lectures , and over 200 published papers, editorials, and articles. He is the author of 14 books, including a definitive Encyclopaedia of Medical Ethics. His educational and clinical expertise is backed by an elite array of fellowships, including FRCS, FACS, FICS, and FCPS.
Dr. Ali N. Zaidi is an Adult Congenital Heart Disease Specialist Disease (ACHD). He is one of only a few selected cardiologists’ in the U.S. who are board certified in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Paediatric Cardiology, Adult Cardiovascular Disease, Adult Echocardiography and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. His clinical interests include care of adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pregnancy in women with congenital heart defects and advanced cardiovascular imaging in ACHD. After completing his training, Dr. Zaidi was appointed as the Director of Research at the Columbus Ohio Adult Congenital Heart (COACH) Disease program at The Heart Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University and was part of several national multicenter trials. In January 2014, he moved to the North East and was appointed as the Director of the Montefiore Adult Congenital Heart (MAtCH) Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Program at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart & Vascular Care and The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Zaidi has authored several peer reviewed manuscripts, is an often invited speaker at national and international conferences. His Atlas in ACHD is an essential part of fellowship programs . Dr Zaidi is the current President of the Alliance for Adult Research in Congenital Cardiology. He has won numerous teaching awards during his career and was recently given a national teaching grant to develop an ACGME approved ACHD fellowship training program in New York City. Dr. Zaidi joined the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and The Mount Sinai Children's Heart Center as full time faculty on January 1st, 2019, Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Center, Director of Pediatrics to Adult Transition of Care Program, and Director of Academic Affairs, Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
