ROS, reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and RSS are the three primary categories of oxidants produced within the body.

This book summarizes the challenges and limitations of targeting oxidative stress. In addition, the chapters discuss the impact of different oxidants and oxidative stress in different fields of human disease, especially as a global therapeutic to treat various chronic disease managed with drugs. Furthermore, this book explores a wide range of promising approaches and explores the mechanism behind the oxidative stress based on pharmacological properties and highlights its application in the medical field. It serves as a resource for graduates, clinical researchers, industry professionals, and anyone working on antioxidant activity of enzymes or understanding the role of oxidative stress in diseases like cancer.

Dr Nidhi Srivastava is currently working as an Associate Professor and Head of the department, Biotechnology, at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Raebareli (NIPER-R). She has 22 years of experience in teaching and research post-Ph.D. She has been conducting research on Phyto-therapeutics in the context of microbial infections, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. She has published more than 160 research papers in reputed journals, authored six books, and written 24 book chapters.
