Oxidative stress is an imbalance caused by the body's failure to effectively eliminate reactive products generated from the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during cellular metabolism. ROS, reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and RSS are the three primary categories of oxidants produced within the body.
This book summarizes the challenges and limitations of targeting oxidative stress. In addition, the chapters discuss the impact of different oxidants and oxidative stress in different fields of human disease, especially as a global therapeutic to treat various chronic disease managed with drugs. Furthermore, this book explores a wide range of promising approaches and explores the mechanism behind the oxidative stress based on pharmacological properties and highlights its application in the medical field. It serves as a resource for graduates, clinical researchers, industry professionals, and anyone working on antioxidant activity of enzymes or understanding the role of oxidative stress in diseases like cancer.
