Based on the assumption that different contexts of war lead to diverse forms and functions of theatre, this open access book analyses the activities of theatrical institutions in four Bosnian-Herzegovinian cities during wartime. The primary material, collected onsite, includes video recordings of performances, edited plays, theatre programs and newspaper reviews, as well as interviews with contemporary witnesses who were active theatre artists during the war.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSenad Halilbašić\u003c\/strong\u003e, born in 1988 in Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina), is a theatre scholar and screenwriter. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"DE-AT\"\u003eHis doctoral research in theatre studies at the University of Vienna forms the basis of this book. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Slavonic Studies at the University of Vienna and at the Cluster of Excellence \u003cem\u003eTemporal Communities\u003c\/em\u003e at Freie Universität Berlin. Among his publications is the co-edited volume \u003cem\u003eTheatre in the Context of the Yugoslav Wars\u003c\/em\u003e (2018), the first comparative study of theatre in the former Yugoslavia during the 1990s.
