He is currently a Full Professor at UP’s Department of Chemical Engineering, and a Senior Researcher at LEPABE\/ALiCE. He has previously served as Dean of the College of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University, President of the Portuguese Society of Biotechnology, Chief Executive Officer of University\/Industry Extension Associations \u003ci\u003eAESBUC\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eINTERVIR\u003csup\u003e+\u003c\/sup\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e and Biotechnological Entrepeneurial Incubators \u003ci\u003eCiDEB\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eINOVAR\u0026amp;CRESCER\u003c\/i\u003e, and Portuguese Government Liaison Officer to the European Commission for food and biotechnology matters.\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eOver the years, Prof. Malcata has received several national andinternational public recognitions and awards, including the: \u003ci\u003eWilliam V. Cruess Award\u003c\/i\u003e for excellence in teaching, from the Institute of Food Technologists (USA); \u003ci\u003eTeaching Award in Dairy Manufacturing\u003c\/i\u003e, from the American Dairy Science Association (USA); \u003ci\u003eStephen S.
