The book brings together social movement and technology theory to examine it through two in-depth case studies of open source agricultural communities. This allows for the tracing of values and interests coded within the technological artefacts the communities produce, as well as their development processes. Critical theory of technology is further applied to examine the broader political economy of the development model.
