His primary research interest is the contribution of social\u003cbr\u003e relations to early cognitive as well as social development. His principal fields\u003cbr\u003e of study are early childhood autism, congenital blindness, mother–infant\u003cbr\u003e relations, and adult borderline personality disorder.
