Bargh\u003c\/b\u003e holds a PhD and is a Professor in the Department of Psychology, New York University. He received his Bachelors summa cum laude from University of Illinois in 1977, Ph.D. in Social Psychology from University of Michigan in 1981. Since 1981 he has been on the faculty of the New York University Psychology Department. He is the editor of four books, including \u003ci\u003eUnintended Thought\u003c\/i\u003e (Guilford, 1989), \u003ci\u003ePsychology of Action\u003c\/i\u003e (Guilford, 1996), \u003ci\u003eThe Use and Abuse of Power\u003c\/i\u003e(Psychology Press, 2001), and \u003ci\u003eUnraveling the Complexities of Social Life: A Festschrift in Honor of Robert B. Zajonc\u003c\/i\u003e (American Psychological Association, 2001). His research focuses mainly on the role of nonconscious influences on emotion, judgment, and social behavior.
