Cost of Quality Analysis and Management

Frameworks, Economics, and Implementation

Link cost of quality analysis directly to business performance and strategy

If organizations treat quality costs as isolated metrics, they can miss their strategic potential. Cost of Quality Analysis and Management: Frameworks, Economics, and Implementation integrates quality management, business considerations, economic analysis, implementation strategies, and emerging methodologies across technical disciplines. It encourages quality professionals to adopt a system-thinking perspective, e.g., Total COQ framework, that connects COQ analysis with broader organizational strategy and measurable financial outcomes.

Coverage spans traditional COQ models, economic analysis foundations, and COQ program development and implementation. Numerous real-world case studies illustrate QM and COQ strategies applied across manufacturing, construction, healthcare operations, service industries, and the public sectors. The book also identifies emerging applications, including proactive COQ usage and the integration of AI technologies into quality management.

Readers will also find:

  • Strategic roles, benefits, and challenges of COQ frameworks examined from both quality and organizational management perspectives
  • Guidance on COQ program development covering model selection, data collection infrastructure, and overcoming common implementation barriers
  • Cross-sector applications of COQ principles and approaches in private-sector organizations and government functions
  • Indirect COQ identification and Total COQ framework development based on systems-thinking approaches that align quality management decisions with enterprise-level financial and operational objectives
  • Analysis of emerging methodologies positioning COQ within evolving technology landscapes, including artificial intelligence and advanced analytics

Designed for graduate students and entry- to mid-level professionals across disciplines, this book also serves quality and operations management professionals, and academic researchers seeking to connect quality management practice with strategic business outcomes.
