The essential textbook on genetics and genomics for veterinary and animal science

Introduction to Veterinary Genetics, now in its fourth edition, provides students and practitioners with a solid grounding in genetics and genomics in the context of veterinary medicine and animal production.

This edition incorporates revisions throughout, including advances in molecular technology and updated approaches to the diagnosis and control of inherited disease. Coverage spans basic genetics and genomics, population and quantitative genetics and genomics. A new chapter covers cancer genetics and genomics.

Readers will also find:

  • Updated material on molecular technology advances reflecting current methods used in veterinary genetic diagnostics and research
  • Coverage linking genetics and genomics concepts directly to animal production systems
  • Discussion of parasites and pathogens from a genetic perspective, connecting host genetics to disease susceptibility and resistance
  • End-of-chapter summaries in every chapter designed to support structured revision and efficient exam preparation
  • Consistent terminology and coherent progression across all topics in the text

Introduction to Veterinary Genetics serves veterinary students, animal science students, and practicing veterinarians who need a reliable reference on genetic and genomic principles.
