Bloomsbury Handbook of Refugee and Migrant Early Childhood Education and Care
Donna Gaywood | Jennnifer Koutoulas
Education / Research
The Handbook of Refugee and Migrant Early Childhood Education and Care surveys the ways in which refugee and migrant children can be supported, educated, and cared for. It contributes to calls by UNHCR, UNICEF and OECD for quality data on refugee and migrant children's experiences globally and contributes to efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: quality education for all. The chapters are written by researchers, practitioners, and NGO workers based in Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Pakistan, Portugal, Turkey, the UK and the USA. The handbook is divided into five sections covering: the lived experiences of young children, the ECEC workforce, practice, policy, and research. The themes and issues covered include racism, notions of foreignness, inclusive methodologies, climate change, and forced and non-forced migration.
Donna Gaywood is Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Science at the University of Gloucestershire, UK.
Jennnifer Koutoulas is Education Tertiary Supervisor at Macquarie University, Australia, and Research Associate at the Early Years Intercultural Association, Australia.
