In this book, Roger Friedland and Janet Afary used Facebook to collect anonymous responses from tens of thousands of young men and women in Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Palestine, Tunisia and Turkey in 2012 and 2018. This is the first multi-national survey of the piety, love, sex, and gender politics that has ever been conducted in this region.  They also explore the relationship between young people's intimate lives and their attitudes about the political role of Islam.
